This blog is just for fun. I like to travel and try new restaurants frequently. So I will be sharing my opinions on the places I have sampled. My reviews are not pretentious and I am very leniet on certain things. I normally will adapt to any ambiance a restaurant offers and do not nitpick over decor.
My husband and I tried a place called Chef Point cafe in Haltom City. The background behind this restaurant is interesting. The owners wanted to open a restaurant but could not get the financing needed. However they were able to get a loan for a gas station. So the building is operated as a gas station on one side and a restaurant on the other.
This is not your normal set up with cigarette tainted air and stale food. The restaurant side of the station has tables close together with white cloth and a fresh flower. But the ambience is crowded and loud with lots of people talking and waitstaff bustling about.
The food we tried was incredible. Ricky had chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes with gravy. The fact that he tolerated the gravy says a lot because he normally eats both things dry. He said this was the best gravy he has ever tasted. I had the blackened stuffed chicken breast. It came with a side of pasta in very fattening sauce that was too awesome. I could not finish mine so I ended up taking it to work for dinner. We finished off with a bread pudding that was very good and did not taste like someone sunk it in whiskey.
The cost of the food was a little expensive but not a ripoff. You got big portions for the money. So I recommend this place and give it a platinum rating.
